Dosage And Administration

Administer intramuscularly in the thigh region or intraperitoneally (which is recommended in piglets) in doses:
Piglets :
preventively: 2 ml/head (equivalent to 200 mg iron) on the 4th day of life. If necessary, repeat after 3 weeks.

therapeutically: 2 ml/piece (equivalent to 200 mg iron) immediately after the onset of anemia symptoms. In the case of severe disease, double the dose or repeat administration after 10-14 days.

Calves : 5 ml/head (equivalent to 500 mg of iron).

THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS

Prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemia in piglets and calves.

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to iron dextran, renal failure, hepatic impairment, anemia caused by factors other than iron deficiency.

SIDE EFFECTS

Piglets may occasionally develop symptoms of anaphylactic shock and, in extreme cases, death.
